Plaster

Taylor Pearce’s conservators are experienced in conserving historic plaster, so we are able to vary our approach according to the structural and surface condition, location and substrate as well as the finish required by our clients. Works we carry out include:

• detailed condition surveys to identify, location, type and extent of damage; environmental monitoring

• consolidation of the structure with a suspension system and fragile decoration; replacement of losses using equivalent materials

• dismantling and reinstallation of decorative schemes in new locations; reproduction of sections where required

• cleaning following trials with particular attention to sensitive polychrome surfaces; retouching or repainting to achieve a consistent appearance
